When my son was in preschool, he was devoted to all things Blues Clues. I swear he wished that Steve would pop out of the T.V. and play with him! He would dress like Steve and use a Handy Dandy Notebook. He would run to the mailbox and sing " Here's the mail, it never fails..." ( I still do).
Anyhow, a few of the characters, Mrs .Salt and Mr. Pepper (or is it the other way around?) used to promote eating healthy snacks.
I used to keep fresh cut carrots and celery in the fridge so that he could easily have access to them.
Earlier in the day, we had stopped in at Timmy's so I could get a coffee and we could get some Chocolate Dip doughnuts. He sat happily and ate his doughnut while I drank my coffee.
I couldn't eat mine so I took it home and put it in the fridge.
He got to playing and I was doing some laundry. He ran over and asked if he could have a healthy snack and I said sure. He would then run to the fridge and come back into the living room with a smile on his face.
This went on a few more times throughout the afternoon.
I thought to myself, " Hey, this Blues Clues is pretty cool, they actually got him to enjoy eating healthy foods!"
I went to make supper and opened the fridge to see what leftovers I could use.
I stood there with the fridge door wide open, confused. There, on a plate sat a naked, white doughnut.
It turns out the little bugger had been going in and out of the fridge all day, picking off every speck of chocolate icing that had been on my doughnut!
Healthy snacks ! Healthy Snacks, I love to eat those Healthy snacks!!!
