It was brought to my attention that my lovely 5 year old daughter fancies herself smarter than everyone else. I don't remember how the conversation began, but in a confident and matter of fact way, she proclaimed that she could make meatloaf. She then asked "what is a meatloaf" She came to the realisation about her super smart prowess because she read 'Eric Carle's Polar Bear book all by herself.
This has been her new favourite book for the last week and she has memorized it and made up a song. I hope that she can keep her self confidence as long as she can. What a great thing to be able to boast that she can play the guitar, drive a car, do the laundry, paint her bedroom all because she thinks she can!
